How CCV Used Hotjar to Grow Conversions

CCV Shop, a Netherlands‑based SaaS that creates and hosts online storefronts for about 17,000 merchants, faced a single intertwined challenge: could the same set of behavior‑analysis tools improve their product, increase their own marketing conversions, and lift conversions for their e‑commerce clients? UX designer Gregor Doornbosch used Hotjar but was initially wary of hidden implementation costs and adoption overhead.

They deployed Hotjar Heatmaps and Session Recordings across CCV Shop landing pages, their corporate site, and customers’ checkout pages (with permission), uncovering bugs, behavioral patterns, and friction points. Changes informed by recordings and A/B tests boosted their marketing conversion rate by 38% (from 1.3% to 1.8%), improved checkout and back‑office flows on the platform, and delivered better conversion outcomes and usability for their hosted merchants.
