Bannersnack is an online banner maker with a 60+ person team (13 in marketing) that wanted to improve sign-ups and product UX but didn’t know how users were actually interacting with their site and tool—analytics showed traffic but not behavior. The team evaluated Hotjar but first confirmed it wouldn’t harm page load speed before deploying it to get qualitative user insight.
Using Hotjar heatmaps and session recordings, they identified simple UI fixes: enlarging and increasing contrast on a landing-page CTA and relabeling/repositioning a hidden “Timeline” control. Those changes drove a 25% increase in sign-ups and a 12% rise in Timeline usage, and Hotjar became a core part of their conversion optimization process.
