A Hootsuite Case Study
The Palms Hotel in Las Vegas wanted to prove the end-to-end ROI of social media by tracking whether traffic from social posts converted into bookings. Working with MediaLeaders and Hootsuite, the hotel set out to attribute revenue from individual social messages back to specific campaigns and sources using web analytics.
By adding Hootsuite custom URL parameters and enabling Google Analytics Ecommerce Tracking, the team tracked conversions from each social message during a month-long campaign. A single Facebook post ("Psst... who wants $55 rooms?") generated $903 from three transactions (6.25% ecommerce conversion rate), and the campaign overall earned $5,029.19 (67% over revenue goals), delivered 22 transactions (47% above reservation goals), gained 2,600 new Twitter followers, and increased engagement across channels.
