How The Grommet Used Incentivized Sharing to Win Thousands of Leads

The Grommet is a product launch platform that curates and sells goods from independent makers—since 2008 it has launched 2,000 companies and seen rapid growth. Facing the recurring challenge of driving lead generation and customer engagement around gift-giving holidays (with organic social reach declining), the team wanted a high-impact Mother's Day activation to grow their email list and boost awareness.

They ran a month-long “Win a Mom-Worthy Gift Card” sweepstakes (Apr 24–May 15) using Hootsuite Campaigns’ Incentivized Sharing, offering three extra entries for Facebook or Twitter shares. The campaign generated 11,401 leads in three weeks, nearly 1,000 Facebook shares and 208 Twitter shares (producing tens of thousands of impressions and 729 click-throughs), 629 new email subscribers, and 3× the engagement of their next-best sweepstakes; a follow-up Father’s Day campaign was launched in under 15 minutes and is already outperforming the first.
