A Hootsuite Case Study
The British Museum, founded in 1753 and home to more than eight million objects with nearly six million annual visitors, needed to scale its social presence to serve a global audience. By 2016 demand for content and engagement outstripped the team’s capacity, so the Museum set goals to increase reach and engagement, deliver digital-first customer service, and identify new revenue opportunities.
Using Hootsuite Enterprise, the Museum reorganized its social team, adopted channel-specific content (including Facebook Live and a VR pilot), and implemented dashboards to plan, publish, monitor and analyse conversations. The result: more than 2 million new followers across Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, faster audience growth than peer institutions, a 126% increase in tweet responses, and double- and triple-digit follower growth on Twitter (141%) and Instagram (123%), improving engagement and customer service at scale.
