OsloMet (Oslo Metropolitan University), Norway’s largest state university, wanted its online presence to reflect the quality of its academic programmes and campus life to attract high-quality students and staff. The challenge was to better tell the university’s story on social media and convert awareness into applications and job interest, especially among younger audiences who were viewing but not engaging.
Using Hootsuite’s social listening to identify topics that resonated and Hootsuite Amplify to enable students and staff to share pre-approved content, OsloMet tailored posts around alumni stories, student life, research and vacancies. The approach extended reach beyond campus, drove higher-quality traffic (25% lower bounce on student stories), produced a 2% conversion rate on recruitment content, and even drove 40% of traffic to a recruitment event landing page via Amplify shares.
