How Helix is Building Brand Awareness From the Ground Up

Helix is a consumer genomics company that gives customers up to 100× more genetic data through an App Store-style marketplace of DNA-powered products. Facing a crowded industry, Helix needed to build brand awareness, educate consumers about genomics, and better understand its audience to scale marketing and customer service effectively.

Helix used Brandwatch for social listening to shape messaging and launched the integrated “Follow Your DNA” campaign (in partnership with Mayo Clinic), while managing content, assignments, and workflow in Hootsuite. The approach doubled engagement, drove a 123% increase in social engagement and a 30% rise in followers, cut moderation time by about half (from 10+ to ~5 hours/week), and earned coverage from outlets like Wired, Fast Company, and CNBC.
