Case Study: Change.org amplifies petitions and scales campaign impact with Hootsuite

A Hootsuite Case Study

Preview of the Change.org Case Study

How Change.org uses social media to turn trending petitions into victories

Change.org is the world’s largest petition platform — with 50 million users across 196 countries and more than 6,000 victories since 2007 — that helps people drive change locally and globally. Their challenge is scaling and amplifying thousands of user-led campaigns (over 10,000 petitions created monthly) across social channels so individual stories can pressure governments and companies and translate into real-world policy and corporate action.

They address this by combining personal storytelling, email outreach and social amplification with a structured social media workflow powered by Hootsuite for scheduling, monitoring and analytics. That approach has driven major wins — for example a hotel safety petition that gained 400,000 signatures in a month, attracted mainstream media and congressional attention, and prompted FCC inquiries — and overall has helped more than 16 million people start or sign winning petitions and elevated thousands of campaigns at once.
