Case Study: Saving Lincoln achieves a loyal fanbase and increased film awareness with Hootsuite

A Hootsuite Case Study

Preview of the Saving Lincoln Case Study

How a successful independent film launched on Twitter with a $1,000 budget using Hootsuite

Saving Lincoln is an independent film whose small marketing team needed to break through the noise of thousands of yearly releases on a very limited budget (about $1,000/month). Their goals were to build sustained buzz before release, create a fan network, and raise awareness of Ward Hill Lamon, Abraham Lincoln’s lesser-known bodyguard, without the resources of a big-studio campaign.

They launched a serialized Twitter storytelling campaign in Lamon’s voice, posting daily story beats and cliffhangers and managing content with Hootsuite’s scheduling and team collaboration tools. The tactic drove engagement, built a loyal fanbase, and increased film awareness—growing the @SavingLincoln account to roughly 7,500 followers and achieving the campaign’s objectives.
