TerraCycle is a global recycling company that partners with more than 110 brands and 30 million supporters across 22 countries to collect and upcycle non-recyclable, post-consumer waste—having diverted over 2.5 billion units from landfills. The company needed to scale environmental education and mobilize communities online, connecting like-minded people and promoting action while managing rapidly growing social channels with a one-person digital team.
To meet that challenge TerraCycle built a community-focused social strategy—sharing DIYs, contests, Brigade program updates and partner stories—and adopted Hootsuite for scheduling, monitoring and amplification. The result: a highly engaged audience (about 54,000 Facebook likes and 27,000+ Twitter followers), manageable social operations for a single manager, increased participation in Brigade programs, and richer, action-driven content for brand partners.
