SAE International - Customer Case Study

SAE International, a global association of mobility engineers across aerospace, automotive and commercial-vehicle industries, faced low engagement from its old online community, Engineer Xchange. The platform lacked clear objectives, basic functionality and dedicated moderation, and content efforts (like hired bloggers) failed to drive member value, so SAE shut it down to rebuild with a more purposeful approach.

SAE relaunched Member Connection on Higher Logic with professional Community Management Services and a dedicated manager, organizing both general and sector-specific technical spaces and inviting non-member volunteers to participate. Since the June 2015 launch the community has attracted ~6,757 members, generated ~2,497 messages, ~3,000 resource views/downloads and hundreds of active contributors, producing focused, problem-solving discussions and measurable gains in member engagement and growth.
