NZIQS Creates Member-To-Member Connection Through Online Community

The New Zealand Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NZIQS) represents over 4,500 quantity surveying professionals and manages member records with MemNet. Faced with low engagement from newsletters and email, especially among students, younger members, and those unable to attend events, NZIQS needed a way to foster meaningful member‑to‑member connection beyond mass communications.

NZIQS implemented Higher Logic Community to create NZIQS Connect, a virtual space for networking, discussion, and peer support. The community has grown organically—previously silent members and long‑time practitioners now contribute advice, surface issues the board hadn’t known about, and enable the association to respond more effectively, increasing engagement across member cohorts.
