NCDS Drives Membership Growth With Members-Only Online Community

The North Carolina Dental Society (NCDS), one of the nation’s oldest dental societies representing over 3,900 member dentists, needed to revamp engagement to attract and retain younger members as longtime members retired. Members had asked for a place to connect, and the need became more urgent during COVID-19 when timely peer support and networking were critical.

NCDS launched a members-only online community, NC Dental Connect, using Higher Logic to provide peer Q&A, resource sharing and networking; exclusivity also incentivized membership. As a result, new member acquisition increased 200% this summer and community engagement jumped 20× during the pandemic, making the community a central, tangible membership benefit.
