AACC Online Community Drives Increased Engagement

AACC, a Washington, D.C.–based association founded in 1948 that brings together clinical laboratory professionals worldwide, faced limited member engagement due to a legacy Telligent/Zimbra community platform. Key features were missing or broken—no automated digests (requiring manual “fake” emails), a nonfunctional mobile interface, poor private messaging and member search, and frustrating vendor support—so members and staff couldn’t fully use the community.

AACC migrated to Higher Logic in a seven-week rollout that preserved conversations and added essential features: automated daily digests with in-email participation, a responsive mobile experience, improved private messaging and search, and support for dozens of subcommunities (42 launched). The new platform simplified management and drove a 150% increase in community activity, significantly boosting member engagement and perceived value.
