Leading Train Ticket Retailing Company, the first impartial rail retailer to sell tickets online in the UK and operator of a large travel call center, faced an ageing legacy ticket retail application and needed a modern platform to support new ticketing, fulfillment, promotions and “favorite journeys” features. Hexaware was engaged to migrate and transform the legacy system to Microsoft’s .Net platform to overcome technology obsolescence and improve customer experience.

Hexaware re‑engineered the application to Microsoft .Net (Dot Net 2.0) with BizTalk integration, portalization for Train Operating Companies and interfaces to third‑party reservation, payment and insurance systems, using Agile, test‑driven development and continuous integration. The result was a modern ticketing platform that reduced change and scaling costs, lowered operating system costs, shortened schedules and effort for changes, and delivered an enhanced customer experience.
