Scalable cloud based data warehouse which saves OPEX

The Largest Exchange in Europe’s US Indices arm was struggling with a 12+ year SQL Server data warehouse that lacked scalability, had performance issues, and required long lead times from central IT to provision new analytics for business lines. Hexaware was engaged to deliver a cloud-based data warehouse solution on AWS (using EMR, Redshift, S3 and Talend) to enable faster provisioning, global access and reduce hosting and licensing OPEX.

Hexaware implemented a phased AWS DW—ingesting data via Talend and Oozie into S3, processing on EMR and loading into Redshift—automating multi-part ingestions into single bulk loads and enabling auto-scalability and 99.999999999% S3 durability. The solution cut hours from data loads, expanded the platform from internal stakeholders toward external clients, and targeted roughly £800,000 per year in datacenter hosting and licensing OPEX savings.
