Migration from Brio to OBIEE for a Leading Airline in North America

Leading Airline in North America, a major carrier with a fleet of more than 700 aircraft serving 350+ destinations, faced fragmented reporting with no data model: reports were created directly from physical tables in Hyperion Interactive Reporting Studio (Brio/IRS) and stored as over 1,500 BQY files. Hexaware was engaged to address this challenge and migrated the reporting environment toward OBIEE, leveraging its BIMA for Brio toolset and Pillar III framework.

Hexaware analyzed the legacy system, ran a pilot to migrate BQY files from Hyperion IRS to OBIEE, built an OBIEE RPD (physical, BMM and presentation layers), and regenerated reports using XML from BIMA. The Hexaware solution enforced correct physical and logical relationships to improve report accuracy, hid underlying table/join complexity from business users by exposing only a business‑term presentation layer, and ensured accurate metadata capture—streamlining reporting and reducing the risk of incorrect results.
