Business Objects Data Mart Consolidation for a Leading Conglomerate

Advanced Technology, Services and Finance Company, an advanced technology, services and finance company operating in more than 100 countries, needed to consolidate multiple independent HR Business Objects data marts into a single enterprise data warehouse (EDW) to reduce storage and server footprint and eliminate unnecessary data movement. Hexaware was engaged to address the consolidation challenge, using Business Objects, Informatica and Hexaware’s own semantic-layer assessment tools.

Hexaware assessed existing datamart and EDW models, ETL processes and reporting, then delivered a consolidated ETL, integrated data model and common semantic layer (using Hexaware tools) with coding migrated to Informatica. The work eliminated redundant tables and reduced hard-disk usage, centralized the database server, automated manual ETL tasks, provided enriched audit information, simplified maintenance and implemented integrated security for the semantic layer.
