A Hexaware Case Study
Germany’s Largest Leasing Company, part of Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe with 2,000+ employees, EUR 8B new business (2009) and EUR 29B assets under management, engaged Hexaware as its IT partner under the “Strategy 2009” initiative. The customer faced a fragmented landscape of 80+ core leasing applications across mainframe, client-server and web platforms (VSAM, COBOL, DB2, Cool:Gen, Smalltalk, etc.) and needed portfolio rationalization, legacy replacement and an upgrade roadmap to harmonize business processes such as offering, credit scoring, contracts, asset management and collections.
Hexaware delivered an 8‑week consulting engagement in Bad Homburg, running stakeholder workshops, performing App Portfolio Analysis (APA) and proposing an IT modernization roadmap and reference architecture. The work rationalized the 80+ applications, unified Auto, Equipment and COM leasing processes to remove redundancy, identified reusable components (lease-calculation engine, partner management, centralized letter printing) and produced an evolving architecture strategy that became the basis for subsequent engagement-level architecture frameworks and modernization efforts.
