Washington State Employees Credit Union - Customer Case Study

Washington State Employees Credit Union (WSECU), the state's second-largest credit union with more than $1 billion in assets, 150,000+ members and over 500 employees, needed to protect sensitive member data across 19 branches and a mixed PC/Citrix environment. Tony Hildesheim, VP of IT, faced the challenge of continuously removing network vulnerabilities and controlling patching across 150 servers and ~700 endpoints while meeting regulatory and audit requirements.

WSECU deployed the Lumension Vulnerability Management™ solution—including Lumension Patch and Remediation™ (formerly PatchLink Update and Security Management Console), Lumesion Scan™, and the Lumension Developers Kit™ (formerly PatchLink Developers Kit)—to automate asset discovery, agent- and network-based scanning, patching, remediation and compliance reporting. The centralized approach streamlined patch control and application deployment, helped align security with ISO 27001, supported audits and regulator reporting (DFI, NCUA), and delivered a stronger, more cost-effective enterprise security posture.
