University Health Care System Partners with Lumension to Keep Its Endpoints Healthy and Secure

University Health Care System (UHCS), one of Georgia’s largest healthcare providers, faced growing risk to patient and financial data as mobile device use, increased data sharing and evolving external and insider threats made endpoint security harder to manage. Rising HIPAA, PCI and other regulatory pressures meant UHCS needed a timely, scalable way to understand and control how sensitive data was accessed and moved across its network.

UHCS deployed Lumension Device Control across more than 2,500 workstations and roughly 3,000 employees to implement device whitelisting, role-based policies, enforced encryption for portable media, centralized management and detailed auditing. The solution blocked 354 unauthorized users, prevented more than 20,000 unauthorized access attempts, established weekly log monitoring, reduced administrative costs and database footprint, and improved reporting and compliance—significantly lowering the risk of protected health information loss.
