Case Study: ING‑DiBa AG achieves centralized USB port control and improved endpoint security with HEAT Software

A Heat Software Case Study

Preview of the ING-DiBa AG Case Study

ING DiBa uses HEAT Software to centrally control all of its USB ports

ING DiBa, a Frankfurt-based direct bank serving millions of customers across three main German sites, faced increasing security risks from Plug & Play devices after its Windows XP migration — including malware, accidental or intentional data loss, and unauthorized personal device use. The bank needed a way to centrally manage and restrict USB and other external ports without blocking legitimate business devices.

ING DiBa implemented HEAT Device Control (HEAT EMSS) with 2,600 licenses and a whitelist/ACL approach, rolled out quickly with consultancy support. The solution gave centralized, device- and user-specific authorization, faster approvals, fewer help-desk issues, clean audit results and sustained protection of sensitive customer data.
