HCL worked with a world‑class manufacturer of aircrafts (the client) that needed to turn large, fragmented on‑board sensor streams and maintenance records into actionable insight to predict component failure and optimize service management. The client required secure, role‑based tools and well‑managed datasets able to handle high volumes and mixed data types; HCL applied its Predictive Maintenance Analytics approach using SAP HANA along with tools like SAP InfiniteInsight, Lumira and R integration to address these needs.
HCL implemented a data‑cleansing and loading pipeline into SAP HANA, built a reusable business data layer and statistical models, and delivered a web‑based UI that combined results from HANA, InfiniteInsight and Lumira for different roles. The HCL solution enabled predictive models at the engine‑component level, reuse of historical flight data (reducing the need for extra test flights), easier cross‑flight and cross‑aircraft comparisons, and improved visibility and communications across systems — yielding lower operational cost and reduced engine downtime.
