HCL worked with a leading property and casualty (P&C) speciality insurance company in California that was migrating its policy administration from a legacy platform to Guidewire Policy Center and needed end‑to‑end QA support for a strategic IT transformation. The customer sought a fixed‑price testing model, full ownership of the QA team, business analysis and manual/automation testing, and an agile approach for the Guidewire PC 8.0 implementation.

HCL implemented its QEx Automation framework with HP ALM, QTP, Rally and SharePoint to deliver integration and end‑to‑end policy testing (Policy Center to Claim Center, data warehouse, etc.), enabled manual testers and BAs to build automation, and ran daily/weekly smoke packs across environments. HCL’s solution achieved a 50% reduction in testing effort and cost, ~50% automation coverage across 212 test cases/steps with 173 reusable functions, automated 112 business functions covering 65 screens, and kept the project on track with agile delivery.
