A HCL Case Study
The customer, a leading global aircraft design and manufacturing company, needed to improve reliability and service management across diverse operator fleets while processing enormous volumes of heterogeneous sensor and unstructured maintenance data. Manual, fragmented processes caused weeks-long lag times for defect identification. HCL was engaged, using its IoT WoRKS/Agile Analytics approach to reimagine data acquisition, cleansing, harmonization and real‑time analytics.
HCL implemented three focused agile sprints to build seamless data management, predictive models that combine sensor and text data, and deployment capabilities (Analytics-as-a-Service, Data-as-a-Service, Infrastructure-as-a-Service). HCL’s solution cut defect-identification from weeks to hours, reduced time-to-insight from 30–90 days to one day, achieved 75% initial accuracy in identifying service actions, supported a 97.9% reliability rating, enabled proactive predictive diagnostics, and opened opportunities for new revenue-generating services.
