MSD Pharmaceuticals in India, a subsidiary of Merck & Co., faced the challenge of managing the growing diabetes epidemic in a key market. To promote its diabetes drugs Januvia and Janumet and improve patient outcomes, MSD needed a holistic, scalable patient support program that went beyond medication to address lifestyle changes and therapy adherence. They partnered with vendor HCL to develop and implement an end-to-end solution.

HCL implemented and managed the MSD SPARSH Healthline program, an end-to-end solution built on an Oracle CRM platform and custom applications. HCL provided the technology infrastructure and the services, including patient enrollment, counseling, and ongoing care management. The results included improved patient awareness and ownership of their health, better therapy adherence, and enhanced physician confidence. For MSD, the program successfully created product differentiation and promoted its patient-first philosophy, with approximately 10,000 active patients enrolled.
