HCL Uses Assisted Captive Model To Reduce Cost Of Operations For A Large Banking And Financial Service Provider

HCL worked with a large banking and financial service provider facing the need to set up a Global Processing (Shared Services) Center and migrate complex, traditionally onshore functions (fund accounting, middle office, custody & asset servicing, private equity, etc.) from New York, London, Dublin and Luxembourg. The customer needed cost savings without capital investment, flexible scalability, operational and management control over outsourced functions, and strict adherence to global and local compliance — challenges HCL addressed using an assisted captive model and a delivery center in Gurgaon.

HCL transitioned ~1,000 FTEs to its Gurgaon delivery center, co-invested about $25 million to set up infrastructure, and took responsibility for facilities, HR, training, staffing and support while the client retained control of business processes. The engagement delivered no upfront investment for the customer, seamless multi‑geography transition management, retained client process control with HCL handling setup and staffing, and built-in ramp-up potential for future scaling.
