HCL worked with a leading US diagnostics company — a nationwide provider of diagnostic testing, information and services — that faced complex testing challenges across niche LIMS platforms, legacy systems, mobile apps, clinical-trial specimen management, interface conversions (ASTM to HL7) over IBM MQ, O2C processes and web-based patient/order/result reporting. The client needed to automate regression testing, reduce cycle time and cost, and scale offshore testing capabilities using automation tools such as QTP and Silk Test.
HCL implemented a comprehensive program including a domain knowledge portal, SME-led assessments, an Enterprise Test Lab (with lab peripherals and iPad), a common automation framework from an automation POC, metrics-driven test reporting, and overlapping US EST hours with offshore teams. HCL’s solution cut regression testing effort by 80% per test cycle across 16 releases/patches, saved about USD 200K in offshore onboarding, enabled enterprise-wide automation adoption with reusable scripts, supported on-time delivery for 18 diagnostics and 7 enterprise releases, and achieved scalable, cross‑trained testing teams.
