The customer is one of the world’s largest multinational pharmaceutical companies of Swiss origin (a Swiss pharmaceutical major) that needed to eliminate fragmented, federated mobile app development and rapidly scale secure, compliant mobile solutions worldwide. HCL was engaged to define the strategy and implementation plan and to co-establish a centralized Mobile Apps Factory and Support Center to ensure quality, pharma compliance, and localised high-volume app launches.

HCL built a globally replicable Mobile Applications Factory (governance, connectivity & infrastructure, applications delivery), staffed by a core team and flex delivery centers, and introduced rapid development, reusability frameworks and a structured innovation process. Over about a year HCL delivered more than 40–50 apps across iOS, Android and hybrid platforms, deployed in 10+ countries and localized into 15+ languages, realized monetary savings and faster launches (including T-shirt sizing for quicker approvals), and established 3 delivery centers with a peak team of ~60—results that are repeatable and measurable across the client’s global operations.
