A HCL Case Study
HCL worked with a leading asset management client that was facing inadequate testing processes, poor documentation, high defect leakage to production, and a shortage of trained CRT resources. The client sought a testing services partner to set up QA processes, create and maintain test packs, perform regression and functional testing, automate tests, run report-comparison testing, and administer Quality Center; HCL implemented Mercury Quality Centre across projects to address these needs.
HCL established an independent, domain-focused QA team, cross-trained resources to maximize utilization, and created regression/functional test packs for eight applications while delivering stress, interface and data-reconciliation testing. As a result HCL automated around 60% of CRTs’ manual cases, institutionalized documented QA processes, trained CRTs, improved test coverage to reduce defect leakage, and enabled delivery of defect‑free test releases on schedule, supported by newly developed metrics (test cycles, defects identified, application count/resource).
