A HCL Case Study
A leading US based online shopping client — a company that creates, develops and runs online shopping sites for brick-and-mortar brands and retailers — was struggling with a roughly three-month time lag to launch new partner sites, scant documentation, a non-modular code base, restricted database access and weak SLAs. The client engaged HCL for E-commerce Marketing Services and end-to-end testing support, moving toward a testing-driven, Agile approach and adopting automation tools such as Selenium and IBM RIT.
HCL implemented an onshore–offshore delivery model, migrated manual tests to an automated framework (including a database-independent JSON test framework), provided data migration and Sterling DOM services, and took ownership of launches on the new architecture. HCL’s solution reduced regression testing effort by 50%, automated 112 business functions across 65 screens, improved system availability to >99.5%, shortened SLA ticket resolution from 6.5 to 3.5 days, accelerated site launches to two weeks (from three months) and maintained resource turnover below 10%.
