A HCL Case Study
Global Medical Devices Company, a US-based maker of women's health devices with more than 50 years in the market, sought to enhance an existing medical device to improve suture security, shorten procedure time, simplify ergonomics, and reduce risks such as nerve entrapment and vascular damage. To address needs for tactile-control surgical workflow validation and safety analysis, the customer engaged HCL, leveraging HCL’s Engineering R&D Services and Healthcare Medical Services capabilities.
HCL implemented an integrated solution combining competitive user-step and ergonomics analysis, complaints and adverse-events review, and development of a bench-top model. HCL delivered a comprehensive Competitive Analysis Report, an Adverse Events Analysis Report, and a working bench-top model, enabling the customer to refine device design, improve procedural safety and usability, and support physicians’ tactile training—concrete deliverables that directly informed product redesign and risk-mitigation decisions.
