A HCL Case Study
The customer, a Europe-based global integrated logistics provider, needed to eliminate inconsistent user interfaces across internal and external applications, enable responsive UIs for multiple devices, and control UI development costs. HCL was engaged to provide a standardized, replaceable client/server UI approach and a best-of-breed toolset to support multi-branding, localization, security and progressive enhancement.
HCL delivered a UI Reference Architecture, a continuously updated UI Developer Handbook, a OneUI responsive component library and live UX showcase, plus automated build/deploy using Play2, Maven and Hudson and cross‑browser polyfills (Backbone.js, Twitter Bootstrap, etc.). HCL’s solution improved usability, enabled reuse of common UI assets, reduced design and development time and cost, established quality coding practices and created a UI CoE for governance—accelerating delivery of mobile and desktop applications across the enterprise.
