Enabling Best-In-Class POS Data Management Solution For A Fortune 500 Restaurant Chain

The customer, a Fortune 500 restaurant chain, needed a centralized multi‑channel POS data management system to deliver consistent, locally relevant experiences and to manage prices, products and promotions across thousands of stores. Facing fragmented applications, slow time‑to‑market and high total cost of ownership, they engaged HCL to rebuild POS interactive applications and a common portal to centrally manage POS configuration and menu data.

HCL delivered a five‑year strategic engagement covering program/project management, application development, certification and maintenance, implementing roughly 17,000 function points (first release: 10,000 FP in 18 months) with a rich, template‑based UI (<6s response for 300+ concurrent users) and package generation at 3.12 packages/sec for 35,000 restaurants. The HCL solution reduced time‑to‑market and TCO, standardized global POS, improved data integrity, sped promotional and pricing rollouts, increased crew productivity and order accuracy, and shortened training time.
