Woolworths, the Australian retailer serving 28 million customers weekly and employing over 198,000 people, faced fragmented, manual HR processes, payroll complexity and limited visibility of staff capabilities after rapid growth. To modernize its people function and drive manager and employee accountability, Woolworths engaged HCL (HCL Technologies) to support a move to SAP’s SuccessFactors HCM suite, including Employee Central, Employee Central Payroll, Performance Management, Succession & Development, Learning and Compensation.

HCL designed, developed and implemented the SuccessFactors-based solution, delivering integrations to SAP Financials and Kronos, data migration, custom mobile apps, reporting and training, and phased rollouts for salaried and retail employees. The HCL-led program delivered measurable impact: 99.5% of pay on time and correct, 98% of employees with at least one objective, and strong self-service adoption (weekly volumes: ~9,000 leave requests, ~9,500 learning items assigned, ~10,000 employee changes and ~1,200 recruitment requisitions with 65% raised by line managers), improving HR service, talent visibility and manager accountability.
