Case Study: IBM Expands Student Reach and Inclusive Talent Pipeline with Handshake

A Handshake Case Study

Preview of the IBM Case Study

IBM Partners with Handshake to Democratize Information for Students

IBM partnered with Handshake to expand its early talent reach and connect with students from more backgrounds. The company wanted to improve representation in its pipeline, but its previous outreach strategy limited geographic, ethnic, and gender diversity, and it had limited ways to share its story with students interested in technology careers.

Using Handshake Virtual Events and event campaigns, IBM reached students through Handshake’s 900+ partner universities and hosted livestreamed experiences such as an office tour and an NSBE Convention Live Q&A panel. The results included 700+ schools reached, 658 student attendees for the office tour livestream, 724 unique YouTube views, 104 colleges represented, and 30x more applications than competitors during the week of the livestream. In the NSBE event, IBM saw 394 student attendees, 667 unique YouTube views, 77 colleges represented, and 96% of students agreeing that IBM demonstrates an inclusive environment.
