Prudential Corporation Asia tasked Pavan Desiraju, the first talent acquisition hire for its new India technology hub, with building a 100-person engineering team in May 2020. With COVID-19 lockdowns in place and a small hiring team, he faced the challenge of sorting through thousands of applications and interviewing far too many candidates to scale using traditional methods.

Pavan adopted HackerRank to automate technical screening, rapidly filter large applicant pools, and focus interviews on high-potential candidates. The platform enabled the team to scale from zero to 100 hires during the pandemic, improve candidate experience and conversion, and align hiring around “future-ready” developers who can adapt as technology needs evolve.
