MathWorks, a developer of mathematical computing software, faced the challenge of quickly transitioning its technical hiring process to a fully remote model at the onset of the pandemic. The company partnered with the vendor HackerRank to utilize its remote hiring platform.

Using HackerRank's virtual Whiteboard and interactive coding environment, MathWorks was able to seamlessly pivot its entire technical interview process to a remote format. The solution allowed them to maintain the same level of assessment and candidate engagement as their in-person interviews. HackerRank also helped MathWorks build a skills rubric to remove interviewer variability and implicit bias, which strengthened their diversity hiring efforts and helped them find the strongest candidates.
