KUBRA is a leading provider of customer experience management software for utilities, government, insurance and other industries, experiencing rapid year-over-year growth. As hiring ramped up, their paper-based technical tests became unscalable — they couldn’t screen skills before interviews, struggled with record-keeping, and lacked meaningful insight into candidates’ coding and problem-solving abilities.

KUBRA implemented HackerRank to run online assessments (screening large applicant pools for junior roles and gating senior candidates after phone screens), leverage a question library and custom tasks, and let engineers review code in real time. The change enabled skills-based, faster hiring at scale — roughly 150 tech hires last year, 70+ so far this year with plans for 100+ more — and improved efficiency and completion rates (about 80% in 2023).
