MP Election Commission improves voter participation with easy access and conversations

The Madhya Pradesh Election Commission (CEO-MP) wanted a more modern, interactive way to engage citizens—especially young and mobile-first voters—because existing voter services were cumbersome, one-way, and not user-friendly. It partnered with Gupshup to create a better digital voter engagement experience using WhatsApp.

Gupshup implemented a 24/7 WhatsApp chatbot that helped citizens with election queries, voter ID registration and corrections, and real-time communication with polling officers. The chatbot engaged over 1.2 million citizens, guided around 200,000 people through voter ID updates/new registrations, and reached 65,000 polling officers on election day with 95% responding within 15 minutes.
