B&Q needed to raise awareness and drive more purchases of its Valspar colour‑matching paint service by communicating that customers could get an exact match for any item they brought in. GumGum was engaged to amplify that message using its In‑Image creative and image recognition capabilities across contextually relevant home and lifestyle content on premium publishers.

GumGum’s solution analyzed images, dynamically matched ad colours to items in those images, and served contextually aligned creatives to users. The campaign increased purchase intent from 64.9% to 74.7% (a 15.1% lift), lifted online ad awareness from 26.1% to 35.4% (about a 35.2% lift), grew brand association with “Place to Buy Paint” by 8.5%, and achieved a 7.68% engagement rate—nearly 3× the industry benchmark.
