New Mexico Mutual Group Replaces Legacy Claims System Two Months Ahead of Schedule

New Mexico Mutual Group, a New Mexico workers’ compensation insurer, was running DOS-based claims and billing systems from the early 1990s that limited enhancements, data capture, reporting and adjuster productivity. To better serve injured workers and provide real-time management visibility, NMMG decided to replace its legacy claims system.

After evaluating vendors, NMMG selected Guidewire ClaimCenter and completed a 10-month agile implementation (Mar 2005–Jan 2006) two months ahead of schedule with a small joint team and 20 integrations. The new system delivered real-time inventory and assignments, richer claim data, built-in productivity tools, faster training, and enabled adjusters and medical bill reviewers to work in the same environment—supporting 35+ users handling 5,000–6,000 claims annually and processing 1,500–2,000 medical bills per week, while making NMMG self-sufficient for future configuration and integrations.
