Island Insurance Company, Ltd., Hawaii’s largest locally owned property and casualty carrier with nearly 75 years of history and A ratings from A.M. Best and Fitch (and a five‑year Ward Group Top 50 recognition), needed to modernize and transform its underwriting and policy administration across personal and commercial lines. The immediate focus was on replacing legacy systems for commercial auto and establishing a phased approach to roll out a unified platform that improves service to agents and customers.

Island selected Guidewire’s suite—PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, add‑on modules and Guidewire Digital—to serve as the new underwriting, policy administration and digital front end. Using Guidewire’s implementation methodologies and industry best practices, Island is deploying PolicyCenter for commercial auto first with plans to expand across all lines, expecting faster, more consistent operations and improved service levels for agents and policyholders.
