Federated Insurance, a national insurer founded in 1904 that serves property, casualty, and life needs for select industries and holds an A+ rating from A.M. Best, sought to modernize and transform its commercial lines operations. The company needed greater flexibility, real‑time functionality, and industry best practices in underwriting, policy administration, and rating to improve efficiency across its product portfolio.

To address this, Federated selected Guidewire PolicyCenter and Guidewire Rating Management and began a phased rollout—starting with workers’ compensation, then commercial package policy (CPP) and business owners policy (BOP), with plans to extend PolicyCenter across all commercial lines in the 48 states where it operates. The implementation is expected to deliver significant technical and business benefits, including improved agility, real‑time processing, and continued dependable coverage for its commercial policyholders.
