Canal Insurance Company, a Greenville, SC–based specialty insurer serving commercial trucking operations for over 70 years, needed to modernize claims and billing to give claims staff better tools and improve service for policyholders and claimants. The company sought a more flexible receivables and billing platform to replace a legacy environment and to support agent access, reporting, and privacy controls across its commercial and workers’ comp lines.

Canal implemented Guidewire ClaimCenter—integrated with policy and accounting systems—to support physical damage, liability, cargo, and general liability claims, then rolled out Guidewire BillingCenter nationwide across all lines and its agent distribution channel. The deployments delivered agent access to billing data, stronger financial and statutory reporting, role-based privacy protections, and expanded market flexibility; the projects were completed on time by a small team with Guidewire as a collaborative partner, producing results that exceeded expectations.
