Basler Versicherungen, part of the Baloise Group, is a Swiss insurer offering personal and commercial lines to individuals, SMEs and large enterprises. Competing in a crowded, fast-changing market, Basler was held back by many aging legacy systems that made agent workflows slow, product changes difficult and training lengthy, so it sought a modern, flexible core platform to improve speed to market, operational efficiency and customer service.

Basler chose Guidewire’s suite (PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, DataHub, Rating Management and Client Data Management) and used an out-of-the-box, agile implementation—going live on phase one on budget and a month early. The new platform unified processes, cut training from months to 2–3 hours, enabled product launches in days (instead of a year), allowed weekly rating changes, and delivered faster workflows and better customer-facing information while positioning the company to reduce total cost of ownership.
