Basler Versicherungen Augments Core Operations with Data Transformation

Basler Versicherungen, a Swiss personal and commercial lines insurer in the Baloise Group, faced slow, inflexible legacy policy systems that blocked product changes and fragmented business-critical data. The company needed modern core systems plus a way to migrate and share policy data efficiently with downstream systems like its enterprise data warehouse and General Ledger to improve insight and lower operating costs.

Basler implemented Guidewire’s InsuranceSuite—including PolicyCenter, BillingCenter and DataHub—and deployed DataHub at go‑live as the first EMEA customer. Using DataHub’s out‑of‑the‑box data model, ETL and reusable extraction patterns, Basler achieved fast, auditable migration (250,000 legacy motor policies migrated within a month), centralized operational data delivery to the EDW, improved data transparency and business insight, and positioned itself to reduce costs by retiring legacy systems while expanding further migrations and reporting capabilities.
