Apollo Group services the nonstandard personal auto insurance market and needed better tools to analyze data, identify profitable pockets of risk, and price business more accurately. To achieve this, Apollo Group turned to Guidewire Predict to help segment the marketplace and improve underwriting profitability.
Guidewire implemented Predict, enabling Apollo Group to build a rate adjustment model using decision trees that segments risks by their impact on loss ratio. The project went live in early February 2023 on time and under budget, and Apollo Group is already seeing leading indicators of improved segmentation, with expectations to shrink unprofitable segments and expand strong ones.
