Amica Mutual Insurance Company, a 1907-founded direct writer of personal lines with an A++ rating and ~3,000 employees across 39 U.S. offices, sought more flexible, intuitive systems to support its high-touch customer service. The insurer needed new policy administration, claims management, and billing platforms that would let it respond quickly to business changes and make life easier for customer service reps and underwriters.
Amica began with Guidewire ClaimCenter to move to electronic claim files and boost adjuster productivity; ClaimCenter now supports all new auto, homeowners, marine and excess liability claims with 2,500 active users (including 1,100 claims professionals). The team leveraged that experience to implement PolicyCenter—reducing CSR training time by roughly 50%, speeding phone-based application completion, enabling faster product changes and improving underwriting data—and selected BillingCenter for enterprise billing. Integrations with 20+ systems were completed using an agile approach, leaving Amica’s IT team self-sufficient and better positioned to maintain customer-focused operations.
