Case Study: Snohomish County achieves faster permit processing and improved resident response times with Granicus' Amanda platform

A Granicus Case Study

Preview of the Snohomish County Case Study

Snohomish County, Washington Improves Civic Services Using Amanda

Snohomish County, Washington — a fast‑growing, economically diverse county and the state’s third‑most populous — processes roughly 9,000–10,000 permits a year through its Planning and Development Services Department. Managing that volume while keeping resident and developer services efficient required the power and flexibility of an enterprise permitting platform.

The county relies on govService Amanda (in use for 25 years and upgraded to Amanda 7 in 2020) to give multiple departments shared data access, robust analytics, and easy reporting. By creating an “Ask a Permit Tech” form and treating inquiries as workflows, Snohomish improved response times and used Amanda’s analytics and new features to streamline permit processing, search, and historical record retrieval.
